Patrick's work reflects his diverse interest in the symbolism and design of folk cultural movements in Pennsylvania.  With a tendency towards the astrological and obscure, Patrick's imagery is culled from ancient almanacs and esoteric manuscripts, astrological devices and charts, old tombstones and historic graffiti.  His work explores the complex systems of belief associated with the passage of time and the universal human desire to relate everyday life to the celestial movements in the heavens.  Often both emblematic and enigmatic, Patrick's work is rife with meanings drawn from mythology and religious symbolism of the past.  While the significance of his work is rarely straightforward or simple, Patrick hopes to provide the viewer with an aesthetic experience which suggests the possibility of other worlds lying dormant in the cast-offs of ancient culture.
